EPO announces fee increases from 1 April 2023

Following the Decision of the Administrative Council of 14 December 2022, the European Patent Office (EPO) has announced a general increase in official fees by 4-6% from 1 April 2023- New schedule is available on EPO site.

Following the Decision of the Administrative Council of 14 December 2022, the European Patent Office (EPO) has announced a general increase in official fees by 4-6% from 1 April 2023- New schedule is available on EPO site.

Please see below the increase of the most common fees payable at the EPO:

What actions can be taken to avoid the impact of the increase of fees:

· Filing EP direct applications which priority is still open — Save €75 (45€ 2022)

· Filing Regional Euro-PCT stages—Save €165 (115 en 2022) — If third renewal fee is payable, save €190 (130€ 2022).

· Payment of renewal fees with a deadline on or before June 30, 2023, can be paid before April 01, 2023, at the present fees rate (average 5-6%).

· Payment of grant formalities ONLY if the communication pursuant R. 71 (3) EPC is available.
