The Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indication board (DIRMA) has announced that the co-ownership has become an option for trademarks in Brazil, from September 15, 2020. Which means that, an application for registration or registration with a single owner can be transformed into a trademark application or registration with more than one owner, also allowing any future transfers involving issues of co-ownership.
In order to make the co-ownership possible, several areas of the BRPTO were involved to the process, to guarantee respect for the Industrial Property Law (LPI).
