KARLA ISLAS

Karla joined the International Team of H&A in 2017, firstly by living in Madrid and then returning to Mexico with the goal of strengthening H&A Mexico. She has over 18 years of experience in patents and has worked in several prestigious firms, been one of the handful women firstly heading the Patent Department of well-known Mexican IP firm and now directing the Mexican Office of H&A.

With her wide knowledge of the International IP market as well as the needs of the Mexican, Latin American and European market, Karla has the ability of identifying the commercial interest of the international clients for developing and suggesting creative strategies for protecting their assets.

Due to her responsiveness and full commitment, her clients and peers recognize Karla as a very dedicated and passionate person. For the time that she has been involved in international conferences, she has built an exceptional image, which has contributed to build an important network worldwide.

For being one of the handful women leading a patent practice in Mexico, Karla was a pioneer by hosting the first Women IP event in Mexico for the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
