The long-awaited UPC Agreement, signed on 19th February 2013, is slowly being ratified by the last outstanding European Union Member States, so that the Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court will finally be a reality in 2022.
This new system will entail many complex changes which need to be addressed by both patent holders and practitioners, who now face strategic, financial, linguistic, technical, and jurisdictional challenges and opportunities in the new European patent scene.
