JOSÉ ANTONIO CABANILLAS

José Antonio began his career as a paralegal in the trade mark department of an industrial property firm and went on to join the legal department of an important food industry company based in the UK, where he dealt with the management and enforcement of this company’s trade marks and took part in major portfolio acquisition operations. He gained experience with all the formalities related to trade mark applications, as well as the registration, the preparation of reports and the surveillance of trade marks and came to value direct client contact.

In October 2012, he became a member of the international department of H&A, where he performs a wide variety of tasks related to trade marks: He files Community trade mark applications with OHIM and IR applications with WIPO. As part of H&A’s surveillance service, he informs clients about trade mark applications filed by others despite the clients’ prior rights. José Antonio is also responsible for checking office actions and informing clients about them and about the options for acting, deadlines and costs. He also manages clients’ Powers of Attorney, affidavits, certifications issued by companies, coexistence agreements, trade mark assignments, licence agreements and letters of consent.
